As filming for The Batman II concludes in Glasgow, fans are learning that few characters from the original 2022 film will reprise their roles in the sequel. Among them, Colin Farrell returns as the Penguin but only in a cameo capacity. This development has sparked curiosity regarding the fate of Cristin Milioti, who gained acclaim for her portrayal of Sofia Falcone—later Sofia Gigante—in the HBO Max series The Penguin.

Addressing the speculation, Milioti has confirmed that she will not appear in the upcoming movie. In an interview with ComicBookMovie, she stated plainly, “There’s not a chance you’ll see me in it, sadly.” Despite this, she expressed a strong personal connection to the Gotham universe, adding, “I would go back to that world in a heartbeat.”

Uncertain Future for Sofia Gigante’s Storyline

Although Matt Reeves, the director of The Batman II, had previously indicated that Milioti’s character would not return, fans remained hopeful due to Sofia Gigante’s growing prominence in the series. The news that The Penguin will not continue with a second season has left viewers concerned that Sofia’s arc—positioned as Gotham’s emerging crime queen—might remain unresolved.

Reeves has not dismissed the potential for new spin-offs within the Gotham universe, leaving a door open for further exploration of characters like Sofia Gigante. For now, however, Cristin Milioti will not be part of the next cinematic chapter, even as she remains open to future opportunities within the franchise.
