Virtuix has expanded the compatibility of its Omni One full-body virtual reality treadmill by officially supporting Meta Quest headsets. This significant update, launched under the company’s new “Made for Meta” initiative, now enables the Omni One to operate seamlessly with both the Meta Quest 3 and Meta Quest 2 headsets. As a result, users no longer require a proprietary display, making the system more accessible.

Previously, the Omni One treadmill demanded a dedicated headset, but this integration allows existing Quest owners to pair their devices and controllers directly with Virtuix’s premium VR hardware. Given the widespread adoption of Meta’s standalone VR devices, this development is poised to significantly expand the treadmill’s user base and enhance the appeal of physically immersive VR gaming.

Jan Goetgeluk, CEO of Virtuix, described the update as a pivotal moment for VR gaming. He highlighted the collaboration with Meta, emphasizing that integrating full-body movement into the Quest ecosystem delivers an immersive and physically engaging experience. According to Goetgeluk, this partnership will enable millions of Quest users worldwide to access the Omni One treadmill.

Bringing Physical Movement to Virtual Reality

The Omni One is engineered to convert real-world physical actions into virtual movements accurately. Its omni-directional base allows users to walk, run, crouch, and strafe freely in any direction while remaining stationary in the physical space. This design provides a more natural and dynamic way to interact within virtual environments, enhancing immersion and physical activity during VR gameplay.
