Next week, the U.S. Social Security Administration (SSA) will initiate its first payment cycle for November 2026, distributing monthly benefits to select groups of beneficiaries. This early November payout includes individuals who have been receiving Social Security for an extended period as well as those who qualify for both Social Security and Supplemental Security Income (SSI).
Specifically, on Tuesday, November 3, the SSA will issue payments to beneficiaries who started claiming Social Security benefits prior to May 1997. This marks the commencement of the Social Security disbursement schedule for the month, targeting long-term recipients.
Details of the November Social Security Payments
In addition to these longstanding recipients, the same payment date applies to individuals who receive both Social Security and Supplemental Security Income. Unlike Social Security, which is earned through work history and contributions, SSI is a needs-based program aimed at certain low-income and low-resource individuals. Eligibility for SSI does not require a specific employment record.
The SSA reports that the average SSI benefit amounts to $735.86 per month. Notably, the payment for SSI recipients is scheduled a few days earlier, on Friday, October 30, preceding the Social Security payments due in early November.
According to the latest SSA data, the average monthly Social Security benefits break down into several categories: retirement benefits average $2,034.54, disability payments come to about $1,499.41, and survivor benefits are typically $1,636.31 per month.
