Gotham FC, the reigning 2025 NWSL champions, have announced ambitious plans to open their first-ever dedicated training facility, aiming for a 2027 launch. This move marks a significant milestone for the club, which currently operates across multiple borrowed sites.

The new training center, a $35 million investment designed by SHoP Architects, will occupy the former New York Red Bulls grounds in New Jersey. Spanning 27,000 square feet, the facility will include three natural grass pitches and a full-size indoor field, enabling year-round training regardless of weather conditions.

Comprehensive Facilities to Elevate Player Development

Beyond the playing surfaces, the center will feature a 3,000-square-foot gym, hydrotherapy and recovery rooms, a player lounge, and a dedicated dining area. These additions are intended to support athletes in every aspect of their performance and well-being.

Yael Averbuch West, President of Soccer Operations, emphasized the importance of the project, stating, “We are building an environment that allows our athletes to perform, recover, and develop at the highest level every day. This facility represents a major step in aligning our infrastructure with our sporting ambitions.”

Currently, Gotham FC’s players must shuttle between indoor and outdoor facilities, a logistical challenge that has long been viewed as a drawback. Head coach Juan Carlos Amorós acknowledged this limitation in an interview with The Athletic, saying, “It’s always been honestly one of the things that we were probably behind other clubs. We’ve been really good on the pitch… But I think the players always felt that we could go another level with regards to the facilities.”

The new training center is expected to address these concerns directly, offering a unified, state-of-the-art environment where Gotham FC can continue to grow and compete at the highest levels of women’s soccer.
