The ensemble for Marvel’s upcoming X-Men film is expanding, with reports indicating that actor Asa Germann is nearing the final stages of negotiations to portray the mutant known as Angel. This development comes as part of the ongoing efforts to introduce a new generation of mutants within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Initially auditioning for the role of Cyclops, a character confirmed to be played by Kit Connor, Germann impressed Marvel Studios under the leadership of Kevin Feige enough to be offered the role of another iconic mutant instead. The news, reported by The Hollywood Reporter, positions Germann alongside a cast that already includes Kit Connor, Sadie Sink, Christopher Abbott, and Adam Driver.
Created by legendary comic book creators Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1963, Warren Kenneth Worthington III—better known as Angel—is distinguished by the large wings on his back, granting him the ability to fly. Angel is a foundational member of the original X-Men team and has previously been portrayed in Fox’s earlier X-Men film adaptations by Ben Foster in ‘X-Men: The Last Stand’ (2006) and Ben Hardy in ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ (2016).
