Paramount Pictures is moving forward with a fresh live-action adaptation of the ‘G.I. Joe’ franchise, enlisting Bradley Cooper as the lead actor. The project, which has faced numerous development hurdles in the past, now benefits from the creative input of Danny McBride, who is involved in the screenplay alongside writers Jeff Fradley and John Carcieri.

While McBride is widely recognized for his comedic work, this new G.I. Joe film deliberately veers away from humor. Speaking on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, McBride characterized the movie as a blend of suspense and action, promising an engaging and grounded narrative. He revealed that the storyline centers on the character Duke and a team of Joes navigating a town covertly controlled by their nemesis group, Cobra.

A Suspenseful Return to a Classic Setting

The film’s setting draws inspiration from the comics, focusing on Springfield, a town that is secretly dominated by Cobra’s influence. This backdrop provides a fresh yet faithful environment for the story, offering fans an immersive experience into the darker, hidden aspects of the G.I. Joe universe.
