After years of anticipation, the return of Daredevil to television is coming to a close. Sources from The Hollywood Reporter have confirmed that the upcoming third season of ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ will mark the final chapter for Matt Murdock’s story in this Marvel series.
The decision was reportedly made shortly after filming for season three wrapped, approximately two months prior to the announcement. Alongside this, it was revealed that showrunner Dario Scardapane’s contract was not renewed, leading to his departure during the post-production phase of the season.
The Return and Conclusion of The Man Without Fear
The series initially premiered on Netflix as a product of a partnership between Marvel Television and the streaming giant. It kicked off a slate of five interconnected standalone shows, which included Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and The Punisher. The first four of these characters eventually united in the miniseries The Defenders. However, the original run of these series concluded, and by 2022, they had all been removed from Netflix to transition to Disney+.
After this hiatus, Disney took steps to revive Daredevil, leading to the production of the current third season of ‘Daredevil: Born Again’. This season is now set to be the final installment, closing the chapter on the character’s television journey for the foreseeable future.
