The iconic Fast & Furious franchise is set to expand its reach with the official greenlighting of a television series on Peacock, coinciding with the release of the upcoming film, Fast Forever. This milestone comes after 25 years of the franchise captivating audiences worldwide.

Though the idea of a Fast & Furious TV series has been circulating for some time, it was during NBCUniversal’s upfront presentation in May that Vin Diesel revealed plans for four series within the franchise. Diesel will take on the role of executive producer, joining forces with Sam Vincent from One Race, Neal H. Moritz and Pavun Shetty from Original Film, as well as Jeff Kirschenbaum and Chris Morgan. The series will also benefit from the creative guidance of co-showrunners, pilot writers, and executive producers Mike Daniels, known for his work on ‘Sons of Anarchy’ and ‘Shades of Blue,’ and Wolfe Coleman, who has contributed to ‘Shades of Blue’ and ‘911: Lone Star.’

Building on Two Decades of Fan Engagement

At the upfront event, Diesel emphasized the fans’ enduring desire for more content that delves deeper into the stories of legacy characters. “For the last decade, we have realized that the fans have wanted more,” he remarked. Diesel noted that expanding the franchise into television has been a long-held ambition, one that became feasible under the leadership of Donna Langley, ensuring the project would maintain the franchise’s integrity.

With the combined expertise of producers and showrunners who have proven their mettle in acclaimed television dramas, the series promises to expand the Fast & Furious universe in new and compelling ways.
