Serena Williams has officially withdrawn from the Wimbledon doubles event due to a right-knee injury sustained during her recent singles match. The 44-year-old American was set to reunite on court with her sister, Venus Williams, in a highly anticipated doubles match scheduled for Samedi against Colombia’s Camila Osorio and Argentina’s Solana Sierra. Unfortunately, her participation was compromised after she injured her knee in a singles loss to Australia’s Maya Joint on Mardi.

Williams Sisters’ Doubles Reunion Postponed

The planned doubles comeback for Serena and Venus, who last competed together almost four years ago at the 2022 US Open, has been delayed once again. Their previous partnership ended in a first-round defeat to the Czech team of Lucie Hradecká and Linda Nosková. Ahead of Wimbledon, Serena had formed doubles pairings with other players, including Canadian Victoria Mboko—winning the Queen’s title before Mboko’s injury sidelined her—and later with Czech Karolína Muchová in Bad Homburg, where they faced defeat.

Reflecting on her withdrawal, Serena expressed her disappointment, stating, “I’m heartbroken to have to withdraw.” Her absence from the doubles draw marks another setback in the veteran star’s efforts to return to competitive doubles play on the biggest stages.
