Hideo Kojima’s anticipated project Physint has experienced a significant shift as PlayStation has officially stepped away from publishing the title. Initially announced as a PlayStation exclusive during the 2024 State of Play event, the game’s future has now taken a new direction with Kojima Productions aligning with Xbox to continue its development.

While Kojima Productions remains focused on completing OD first, the development of Physint itself is reportedly progressing on schedule. However, the collaboration between Kojima Productions and PlayStation Studios has come to an unexpected halt, as confirmed in an official statement released through PlayStation’s social media channels.

End of Collaboration with PlayStation and New Beginnings with Xbox

In their declaration, PlayStation expressed that after thorough consideration, they have made the “difficult decision to step away from our collaboration with Kojima Productions on its PHYSINT project.” Despite this change, the statement emphasized the enduring relationship between the two entities, highlighting over thirty years of creative partnership and promising ongoing cooperation with Kojima’s independent studio in the future.

This development marks a notable pivot for Kojima Productions, who, after losing PlayStation as a publishing partner, have now found a new home for Physint under the Xbox banner. This transition ensures that the game remains in active development while signaling a fresh chapter in Kojima’s collaborations within the gaming industry.
