Polish tennis star Maja Chwalińska has secured a wildcard entry into the ladies’ singles main draw at Wimbledon 2026. The announcement came from the All England Club on Monday, confirming the 24-year-old’s participation in the prestigious Grand Slam tournament set to begin on June 29th.

Maja Chwalińska’s Breakthrough and Ranking Surge

Chwalińska’s remarkable ascent followed her extraordinary performance at the recent French Open, where she advanced all the way to the final as a qualifier—marking her as only the second player in the Open Era to achieve such a feat. Despite falling to Mirra Andreeva 6-3, 6-2 in the championship match, Chwalińska’s journey included impressive victories over four Top 50 players.

Prior to Roland Garros, Chwalińska was ranked No. 114 in the world. Her outstanding run propelled her ranking up by an astonishing 93 places, catapulting her to a career-high No. 21 on the WTA list. This surge also came with a lucrative reward, as she earned over $1.6 million in prize money from the tournament.

With this newfound status, Chwalińska no longer faces the challenge of qualifying rounds at Wimbledon. Instead, she will enter directly into the main draw, carrying strong momentum from her recent success.

Joining Chwalińska among the wildcard recipients are British players Harriet Dart and Katie Swan. The tournament organizers have one remaining wildcard spot, which has sparked speculation that it might be reserved for Serena Williams should she decide to make a singles comeback at the grass-court event.
