The Premier League announced on Tuesday that Manchester City has been found guilty of serious violations of its financial regulations spanning nine seasons from 2009 to 2018. An independent commission uncovered evidence that the club orchestrated sham contracts with several commercial partners to artificially boost its revenue figures, thereby masking the true financial situation and circumventing spending restrictions imposed by both the Premier League and UEFA.
In addition to these breaches, the commission concluded that Manchester City was largely uncooperative throughout the league’s investigation, resulting in further charges against the club. Although the verdict has been delivered, no penalties have been imposed yet, and Manchester City has declared its intention to appeal the ruling.
