While The Last of Us: Part 3 has yet to materialize, Neil Druckmann, the director behind the acclaimed first two installments, has confirmed that Naughty Dog is actively developing multiple new projects that will extend the narrative beyond The Last of Us: Part 2. These forthcoming titles aim to broaden the universe rather than simply continue the existing storyline.
In a recent statement, Druckmann reflected on the studio’s ongoing commitment to expanding the franchise. “Since Grounded II, we’ve discussed exploring further stories within The Last of Us world,” he said. “Currently, we have a couple of very exciting new projects in their early stages, so details are scarce, but both will expand the canon beyond the first two parts.”
Emphasizing the significance of the universe they have crafted, Druckmann underscored that any return to this world would be purposeful and meaningful. “We believe these stories are worth telling,” he asserted, signaling a thoughtful approach to the continuation of the series.
New Horizons for Naughty Dog

Beyond The Last of Us franchise, Neil Druckmann also revealed details about another ambitious endeavor titled Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, which he described as Naughty Dog’s most daring project to date. According to Druckmann, there is “an electricity around the studio right now as all the pieces come together,” and although the team is eager to share more, the game requires additional time to mature before its official reveal, expected in 2027.
