Pokémon Pokopia, developed by Koei Tecmo exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2, has surpassed the remarkable milestone of over 5 million copies sold just over four months after its March 5, 2026 launch. This achievement cements its place as the second-best-selling game on the console.

With the Nintendo Switch 2 having sold approximately 23.68 million units so far, the game is owned by roughly 21% of all console users. This solid market penetration reflects the title’s widespread appeal among the platform’s audience. In terms of sales, Pokémon Pokopia edges past Donkey Kong Bananza, which sold 4.78 million copies, yet it remains well behind the console’s top seller, Mario Kart World, which boasts 15 million units sold. The latter’s dominance is partially attributed to its status as a launch title and its inclusion in the initial console bundle.

New Horizons Beneath the Waves

Earlier this month, the Pokémon Pokopia experience expanded with its first downloadable content update. This release featured a free component alongside the initial paid expansion titled Bubbly Basin. The free update introduced the ability for players to use the Dive move, enabling Ditto to venture into the ocean floor for exploration after acquiring this skill. This addition broadens the game’s world significantly, inviting players to uncover new underwater environments and challenges.
