AC Milan head coach Rúben Amorim has openly acknowledged that Christian Pulisic is frustrated due to his absence from the pitch this season, though he anticipates the American winger will soon receive more playing time.
Since joining Milan three years ago, Pulisic has been a key figure for the club, delivering his most prolific goal-scoring seasons in his initial two campaigns. However, recovering from an injury sustained during the United States’ final match at the World Cup, Pulisic has yet to appear in any of Milan’s opening three fixtures of the 2026/27 season.
Addressing the situation in a press conference on Friday, Amorim stated, “Christian Pulisic is not happy because he didn’t play so far. But I like him a lot as a player, remember he was injured this summer.”
Amorim’s Strict Selection Policy and Pulisic’s Future
Amorim was clear about his principles regarding team selection, emphasizing that he will not choose his starting lineup based on reputation alone. “I will never pick my starting XI based on big names. These are my principles and won’t change,” he asserted. Nonetheless, he assured that Pulisic would feature soon, adding, “I like Pulisic a lot, tomorrow he will get minutes.”
Despite this commitment, the limited opportunities for Pulisic have raised concerns among fans eager to see the 27-year-old regain his form. Amorim’s uncompromising tactical approach, which has shaped his tenure at Milan and was evident during his challenging spell at Manchester United, suggests that Pulisic must prove himself to fit within the coach’s system.
