This week, the Social Security Administration (SSA) will begin distributing November’s monthly payments to select groups of beneficiaries across the United States.

According to the SSA’s schedule, the initial wave of payments for November 2026 is set to be sent out on Tuesday, November 3. The recipients on this date fall into two distinct categories.

Who receives benefits on November 3?

First, payments will go to individuals who have been long-term beneficiaries, specifically those who began receiving Social Security benefits prior to May 1997.

In addition, the SSA will issue payments to beneficiaries who qualify for both Social Security and Supplemental Security Income (SSI). The SSI program is designed for certain low-income individuals who are either over the age of 65 or have disabilities. Unlike Social Security, SSI eligibility is needs-based and does not rely on a claimant’s work history.

Notably, the SSI payment for November was disbursed earlier, on Friday, October 30. The average monthly SSI benefit currently stands at $735.86, according to the latest SSA figures.

For context, Social Security payments vary by benefit type. The average monthly payouts are as follows:

  • Retirement benefits: $2,034.54
  • Disability benefits: $1,499.41
  • Survivor benefits: $1,636.31

These figures represent the most recent averages reported by the SSA.
