Barcelona have secured the signing of Croatian goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic from Fenerbahce, the Spanish club confirmed on Thursday. The 31-year-old shot-stopper has committed to a four-year contract running until June 30, 2030.
According to reports from Spain, the transfer fee is initially set at around four million euros (approximately $4.7 million), with potential adjustments. Livakovic arrives at the Catalan club following a season on loan at Girona, although he did not feature in any matches during that spell.
A World Cup Hero Joins Barcelona’s Goalkeeping Ranks
Livakovic gained international recognition for his remarkable performances at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, where his crucial penalty shootout saves against Japan and Brazil were instrumental in propelling Croatia to the semi-final stage. He also represented his country at the recent World Cup held this summer.
At Barcelona, Livakovic will serve as one of the backup goalkeepers, joining veteran Wojciech Szczesny alongside the club’s current first-choice goalkeeper, Joan Garcia.
