Aardman Animation unveiled the first glimpse of their upcoming stop-motion series, ‘Pokémon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch’d and Pichu’, at the 2026 Pokémon World Championships & Pokémon XP. During an exclusive panel, the studio revealed key insights into the project’s development, premiered the initial teaser, and announced that the series will premiere on Disney+ in 2027.

Insights into the Characters and Style

The series will follow the adventures of two unlikely companions traversing the Galar region. Central to the story is Sirfetch’d, portrayed as a classic knight figure endowed with all the noble qualities one might expect. However, his endearing clumsiness infuses him with the heart and charm characteristic of Aardman’s beloved characters.

Alongside Sirfetch’d is Pichu, affectionately called “the cutest Esquire in the world.” Although Pichu is typically depicted as a baby Pokémon, this series presents him as slightly older, embodying a confident yet grounded personality.

Notably, the show will feature no dialogue, relying instead on slapstick humor and visual storytelling to convey the misadventures and camaraderie of the duo. This silent approach aligns with Aardman’s traditional style, promising a unique viewing experience that emphasizes expressive animation and physical comedy.
