Manchester City has secured the future of winger Jeremy Doku by finalizing a five-year contract extension on Thursday. The agreement commits the 24-year-old Belgian international to the Premier League club until at least 2031.
Since his transfer from French side Rennes in 2023, Doku has emerged as one of the league’s most electrifying forwards. His contributions have been pivotal for City, tallying 22 goals and providing 34 assists across 131 appearances. His impact has helped the team capture major trophies, including the Premier League title, the Club World Cup, the FA Cup, and the League Cup.
A Key Asset for City’s New Era
Doku’s continued presence at the Etihad Stadium represents a significant advantage for newly appointed manager Enzo Maresca, who took over from Pep Guardiola ahead of the upcoming season that kicks off on August 21. The Belgian winger highlighted the influence of Maresca’s football philosophy on his decision to extend his stay.
“I have loved my time at City so far, so to have the opportunity to stay for longer is a fantastic feeling,” Doku remarked. “This club means so much to me – I have developed as both a player and a person. I feel settled here, and I know I am improving every day because of the work the staff here do.”
He added, “With Enzo here now I am really excited about the new season. His style of football is the kind we love, so that’s exciting for the players.”
On the international stage, Doku has earned 48 caps for Belgium and participated in the recent World Cup, further cementing his status as a prominent figure in both club and country setups.
