Chris McKenna, one of the film’s writers, recently disclosed in an interview with The Bulwark that the team had envisioned including Kraven the Hunter as a menacing presence. This version of ‘Brand New Day’ would have seen Kraven relentlessly pursuing Peter Parker across New York City, transforming the urban landscape into a complex web of traps reminiscent of the inventive snares seen in Insomniac Games’ Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. The concept entailed a thrilling cat-and-mouse dynamic where the city itself became a perilous environment, filled with booby traps designed to ensnare Spider-Man.
Though ultimately unused in the film, this portrayal of Kraven as a persistent hunter stalking Spider-Man, even in a secondary role, promised to add a layer of suspense and intensity to the narrative. This idea aligns with recent portrayals of Kraven, including the character’s cinematic debut starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson, which has garnered attention upon its release.
